New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 3)
This qualification is intended for learners of English as an additional language. Graduates will have the general language skills required to communicate in most familiar situations with increasing independence and fluency. This qualification is at a level comparable to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) low B2. This qualification has optional strands in order to recognize the additional language skills required to participate with increasing independence in academic, community, and/or employment English language contexts.
New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 4)
This qualification is intended for learners of English as an additional language, who wish to pursue further academic study. Graduates will have the language skills required to communicate independently and effectively in familiar and some less familiar situations with fluency and flexibility in academic contexts. This qualification is at a level comparable to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) mid B2. This qualification allows educational institutions to make informed judgments regarding the level at which the graduate can use English for academic purposes.
